Just across the street from the Loggerhead Marine Life Center, lies the beautiful, (and dog friendly!) Juno Beach Park. It’s known for it’s gentle surf and rolling sand dunes and is a favorite hangout for locals and visitors of Juno Beach and nearby Jupiter, Florida. When I initially spoke with Sydney and Mack to plan their engagement session, we had envisioned something along the lines of a romantic sunset beach shoot. Picture holding hands, strolling along barefoot in the surf….
As as the day approached, it was appearing that the shoot we had envisioned would likely NOT be happening. Tropical Storm Nicole  was due to make landfall on the day we had planned our shoot AT our location. As the tropical storm warning gave way to a more powerful hurricane warning, our odds of having our sunny beach shoot were looking more and more slim. Syndey and Mack had taken off of work specifically for this session so there was no chance of us rescheduling for a later date.
We weighed our options and decided we were going to go ahead with our original plan and hope for the best as we nervously kept an eye on the approaching storm. 
When I arrived at the beach, I was immediately captivated with the enormous power of the ocean. The waves were like nothing I had ever seen and the sky looked dark and angry. Despite it’s ominous appearance, the scene was truly beautiful. It reminded me of one of those paintings you see hanging on the walls of an art museum. You know, the one with the boat out in the stormy ocean? The wind was fierce and I was getting pelted with a million tiny grains of sand. Sydney and Mack were the BEST sports and despite our crazy circumstances, our shoot was full of laughter and fun. I learned that Sydney is originally from Utah and that she followed Mack down to Florida where he is a marine biologist. They were one of the most gracious and sweet couples I have ever worked with and were literal rockstars throughout our entire session together! 
This shoot is definitely one that I will NEVER forget, and the resulting images turned out completely STELLAR. How many photographers can say they did a shoot in a hurricane?! It was a definite win in my books.
